On Monday May 16th, I went to the Keukenhof with my family who is currently visiting me from my home, Saba. Keukenhof is also known as the Garden of Europe which is one of the world’s largest flower gardens. It is amazingly beautiful & has so many different flowers. When you first think about visiting a flower garden you may just think ‘Why would I want to see flowers and visit a flower garden?‘ but trust me it is an experience worth experiencing. 🙂
Below I added some pictures that I took during our visit. To get to the Keukenhof we took a tram, train, bus and then walked around the area. The trip from where I live took about 1 hour and a half. My favourite was the blue orchid however, at every section we kept on saying ‘Oh this is pretty…No this is pretty…Ohh well they are ALL PRETTY’. At no point could you just choose one favorite because they all had unique traits which made the whole garden exceptionally perfect. During the visit to the garden there was about a 15 minutes shower of rain and we quickly had to seek shelter due to the fact that we weren’t fully prepared. However, after it rained I took even more stunning pictures because the rain drops gave a wet texture to the petals. And in my option these pictures came out BEST!
My lilac bomber is from FashionNova and it is called the ‘Picture Me Rollin’ Jacket – Lilac’. This is the perfect spring time bomber that I found online. I haven’t ran into anyone that has anything like it in the Netherlands. I also got a lot of compliments on my lippie colour which complimented my lilac bomber!
This past Saturday was the Pearls of The Dutch Caribbean 2015 – Gala & Awards Show. As I previously shared I was nominated and in the category of Student. However, I did not win 🙁 But on the bright side winning was not the most important aspect of the evening for me because I was contented with the fact that I was nominated!
Seeing that I double booked this day with the Party Over Hair Event I decided to not go and just attend the Pearls of the Dutch Caribbean. I still feel a bit disappointed in myself because I could have mingled & networked with likeminded beauty/fashion enthusiast….ohhh well next time.
The whole evening of the Pearls of the Dutch Caribbean was a great first time experience but I felt that different areas could be developed a little more. But I think that the organisation will ask for feedback and make the right adaptions for the next time.
Ending I would like to congratulate all my fellow nominees and the winning nominees of the Pearls of the Dutch Caribbean!
Enjoy the pictures I took of the evening below 🙂
Francis Sling is the artist that created all the artwork seen below. I am also thinking about purchasing a work of art from him, they are AMAZINGLY MADE!
I know, I know….it has a month since I am back from vacation & I am only now uploading my last Vlog of my Tropical Summer Vacation. But life happened and I was not feeling motivated to upload anything. During my vacation the time it took to upload really turned me off. I mean do you think 3 days to upload one little video is normal? (LOL)
Anyway, in this my new video I share some beautiful scenery from the islands Saba and St.Maarten. I must say I dearly miss the clear blue skies 🙁 Oh well I have these videos to look back on the moments I had.
Enjoy! & if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask 🙂
While on vacation in Saba I took so many pictures! I thought it would be a great idea to share some of them with. Below you will get to enjoy them, showing the scenery and floral on Saba 🙂
At the ending I have added a few pictures that I took on St.Maarten right before leaving to return back to the Netherlands. I miss being on the island with my family and friends. This summer was so much fun and I enjoyed everyday of it.
I hope my pictures give you a feeling of wanting to visit the islands as well! Let me know what you think about them!!
My Tropical Summer Vacation is coming to an end soon…
Since I have been on Saba I haven’t been blogging as frequently as I would have liked. This is because I was having a great time with family and friends. I know this is no excuse but I am finally here! For this week I plan on uploading a new blog post every day. The blog post will be about different activities/the daily life on Saba. Seeing that Saba is not so widely known I thought I would share a few fun facts about the island.
Saba Fun Facts
Location: Latitude – 17.38 North ~ Longitude – 63.13 West in the northeastern Caribbean Sea.
Population: About 1,400.
The island surface = 13 square kilometres (5 square miles).
Also known as “The Unspoiled Queen”.
Great for Hiking & Diving.
Only one airline lands on the island. (Windward Island Airways)
Saba is so unique, to the point that it does not always show up on the map. (Amazing right?!) This is a great point but is also a bit of a down fall. Saba has so much to offer to its inhabitants as well as visitors. It is a very small island that is surrounded by endless ocean.
A few weeks ago I went on a day trip with the Dawn II (The Saba Ferry) to St.Maarten. In St.Maarten is where most people from Saba shops for different wholesale/retail daily needs. While on the island for the day I decided to shop for some cosmetics because during my stay on Saba I am doing different people’s makes-up. I got so much new goodies and was extremely contented with them.
It was my first time in a long time being on a boat. But I am so thankful that I took some sea sick tablets before going on board they helped me feel so much better. Two tips I have for anyone that are going on board the boat/ferry is to take sea sick pills before and to keep your head up and do not look down.;) (you will thank me later!) The boat ride to St.Maarten is about an hour and forty five minutes.
Well this is the end of my first blog post. Until the next one, tomorrow 🙂
Enjoy the pictures!
& leave a comment if you wan to know more about the island or a picture. 🙂
Tomorrow is the day that I leave the Netherlands and go to Curaçao on my first stop in my ‘Tropical Summer Vacation’. Excited?Yes I am! It has been a year since seeing my family. A year since the last time I enjoyed some of the delicious foods as well as feeling the hot sun on my skin.
After spending some time on Curaçao I will be flying to St.Maarten and get a connecting flight to Saba. A direct flight is currently not yet possible from Curaçao to Saba, that being the reason for a short stop in St.Maarten. There I will also be spending quality time with family and friends.
Excited, yes I am! But first today I must do some last rounds of shopping, cleaning up and getting my suitcases packed. Off I go, into the city to get some last stuff.
Ohhh, I also plan on sharing my journey with you by creating blog posts and vlogs showing how beautiful the islands are.
